PCS (Personal Communication System) is the new wireless communications system intended to compete with cellular phone service over the next several years. Much like traditional Cell Sites, PCS Sites also require batteries to ensure continuous service. PCS will utilize more sites than cellular but each site will have lower output and thus require smaller-capacity batteries.
