![Telecommunications, Microwave Repeater Stations](micrepstat_files/support-power_1664_530858.gif)
These
towers serve as relay stations, where microwave repeater stations
take microwave transmissions from one tower, amplify them, and send
them to the next tower. The towers can be seen out in the country or
on rooftops in cities. They have one dish pointing in one direction
and one dish pointing another direction. Each dish points to another
similar dish on another tower, with a clear line of sight between
the towers. Each tower has a hut to house the electronics and
batteries.
GNB Absolyte IIP batteries are an excellent
choice for this application. These batteries offer reduced service
and maintenance, the ability to be stacked to reduce floor space,
and minimal gas evolution. Ranging in capacity from 105 amp-hours to
4800 amp-hours, GNB Absolyte IIP batteries are available in several
configurations including the standard modular configuration, the
"relay rack" configuration, and as single-cell modules for maximum
configuration flexibility.
For smaller installations, GNB
Marathon VRLA batteries serve the application well. These 6-volt or
12-volt monoblock batteries are available in capacities from 28
amp-hours to 180 amp-hours. Installed on shelves in cabinets or
relay racks, GNB Marathon batteries offer the best power density of
any battery on the market today.
